Edgbaston is situated around the south west of Birmingham city centre and shares borders with Moseley, Smethwick and Winson Green. Traditionally known for being one of the most upmarket and affluent parts of Birmingham, it is now also currently one of the most ethnically diverse areas and is heavily populated by students due to its proximity to The University of Birmingham.

The area is well known for its sports facilities and is home to Edgbaston Cricket Ground and the renowned Warwickshire Country club, and plays regular host to many of the international matches. It is also popular for world class tennis, with The Edgbaston Priory Club and a members-only golf course, which offers views over the southern part of the suburb.
