A guide to the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham

With recent years of inward investment and a history of industrial growth spurring on improvements in accommodation, it’s no surprise that the borough of Barking and Dagenham is becoming a popular place to seek housing within London.

This borough remains one of the smallest London boroughs, sitting to the east of London. However, despite being within the outer realms of the city it still benefits from regular Tube and Overground services, alongside regular bus routes into the centre of London.

Industrial growth in the 1920s from the Ford Motor Plant spurred the production of housing for workers, which has led to the availability of lower priced red brick terrace houses across the borough. Future investment is set to provide over 4,000 new homes in the next decade, leaving this borough in a good position to provide affordable housing for those who don’t mind being within outer London.
